Reiki is now available at The Springs. Jennifer Hopkins, LMT will be offering Reiki sessions in addition to massage. She is trained in Usui Shiki Ryoho – a tradition of Reiki brought from Japan by Hawayo Takata that promotes physical, emotional and spiritual healing. Hospitals across the country offer Reiki to enhance patient well-being in pre/post-operative settings, oncology centers, pain clinics, palliative and hospice care, as well as outpatient settings for relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief from a myriad of health concerns. The term Reiki stems from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning vital life force. Although Reiki itself does not treat specific conditions, and should not be used in lieu of medical treatment, it is thought to restore the flow of “life force energy” that may become blocked, resulting in illness or stress. Some studies suggest Reiki may help reduce pain, anxiety, fatigue, and improve general quality of life. Reiki is performed fully clothed and the practitioner utilizes a gentle laying of hands or holding different areas of the body during the session to promote a deep state of relaxation. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that be supportive for anyone seeking to balance body, mind, and spirit for optimal healing.
